Dr. Jussethy Cortina

 

 

Dr. Jussethy Cortina completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida International University, Miami, FL in 2009. She subsequently earned her Master of Science in Psychology degree in 2011 and Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology degree from Carlos Albizu University, Miami, FL in 2016. She completed her APA accredited internship at Family Service and Guidance Center, in Topeka, Kansas. Family Service and Guidance Center is an outpatient community mental health center that offers a comprehensive array of mental health services aimed specifically at children and their families. Dr. Cortina completed her Post-Doctoral Residency at Citrus Health Network Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program, Center for Adolescent Treatment Services. She has 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults in the mental health field and her experience has included the provision of a wide range of therapeutic services, community presentations and psychological assessments. Her clinical experience has also included working with underprivileged and underserved populations providing crisis interventions, including individual, group, family, and couples therapy. Dr. Cortina has successfully worked with individuals with various diagnoses with a strong emphasis on treating children and adolescents with trauma and severe emotional difficulties. Furthermore, her primary areas of interest include working with children and adolescents, providing high-fidelity psychotherapeutic services. Her research interests involve the exploration of parental involvement pertaining to attachment theory and its effects on a child’s and adolescent’s academic, social, and psychological development.
